§ 2-75. Authority/legislative intent.

  • (a)

    Authority. The authority for this program is Sections 112.3187—112.31895, Florida Statutes, the Whistle-blower's Act, as may be amended from time to time.

    (b)

    Legislative intent. The village council finds that it is in the best interest of the village to ensure that employees who have knowledge of unlawful activity, misfeasance or malfeasance by the village or independent contractors report such knowledge to the appropriate authorities for investigation and corrective action. In order to encourage employees to report such information without fear of reprisal, it shall be the policy of the village to prohibit adverse personnel action against an employee for disclosing such information to an appropriate village employee.
